The CIP (cleaning-in-place) station is used for cleaning and disinfecting the production lines that are in direct contact with food products during the filling and capping process. The cleaning process takes place in an isolated system.
The primary element of the station is the cleaning module. It consists of a system of tanks equipped in heat exchangers, mixing devices, level sensors, dosing pumps and automatic measurement equipment. The station utilizes in its construction time, conduction, turbidity, temperature and flow measuring systems. The cleaning module is connected to the washed objects using pipes to create a closed system. A standard cleaning module consists of three tanks. The first tank houses the washing solvent, the second contains the acid solution while the liquid from the third tank is used in the rinsing process. The lower efficiency CIP stations are usually equipped in two tanks: one for the washing solvent and the other for the rinsing liquid. The construction of the most technologically advanced stations can incorporate six or more tanks which include, in addition to those listed above, alkaloid washing detergents, various types of disinfectants (chemical, thermal or available oxygen) as well as purification and regeneration modules (e.g. for silicone washing agent or water).
The complete cleaning process may consist of 5 stages and is based on the circulation of washing solvents within a closed system:
- cold water rinsing,
- hot water rinsing,
- washing with hot soda ash,
- hot water rinsing,
- cold water rinsing.
A similar cycle can be performed with the use of acid solution instead of soda. All flow parameters during the cleaning are maintained at a level that ensures intensive and meticulous washing and rinsing.
The CIP system features:
- two tank of 1 500 l capacity each,
- two pumps: circulating and washing,
- piping system that allows connection of two independent objects to be washed,
- temperature measurement and washing solvent concentration control systems,
- automatic washing agent dispenser,
- electronic control panel,
- stainless steel construction.
